these shoes were made for running

Sneaker: Nike Air Spiridon - silver|desert red-black

No sneakers today, but I did decide to go for a run...

Ok, so I have a lot of running shoes. Air Max's (1, '90, '95, etc.), stabs, shox, New Balance runners, yada yada yada. But I don't run in any of them, which is a shame since that's what they were originally designed for. However, I do run. I run on a treadmill, the local high school track, along the Embarcadero, etc. Every few years or so, I switch shoes due to lack of tread, the shoes falling apart for some reason, or I just want a change. As of late, I've been running in my Nike Spiridons.

Originally released back in 1997, the these Spiridon's were one of the first running shoes to implement the zoom-air system which was a lightweight air cushioning system made for runners who wanted an overall lighter shoe. The shoe features a full length air cushioning system integrated in the bottom outsole of the shoe. Compared to the air max shoe and the Nike Shox that I used to run in, the Spiridon is a noticeably lighter shoe that has made me feel a difference when I run. The weight reduction did come at a price though; I sacrificed less cushioning (the other shoes boast a far superior heel cushioning system) and a less secure fit (the nylon mesh upper is much more flexible than the leather used in my previous running shoes and the soles seemed flimsier), but since I don't really strike my heel when I run, and the less secure fit is allowing me to use more of the muscles in my foot and legs when I run, I’ve learned to adjust without any real issues.

Are these the perfect running shoe? Probably not. I may look for another shoe or use a more recent version of the Spiridon (these were designed almost 10 years ago) when these wear out. I may possibly go to those serious running stores where they analyze your step and stride to get me the perfect shoe. But 'till then, I will run like I'm Spiridon Louis when he won the first modern marathon back in 1896.

The shox are by far the best running shoe, I'd argue you on that. :)

Did you catch Entourage this week? I think you'd relate. Do you have the Fukijawa's?

Yes I did catch Entourage yesterday. And it's not Fukijawa's its FUKIJAMA'S (aka Rufio's). What a bunch of bologna. $20K for some 1 of 1's. Please. Plus DJ AM never has to buy new releases. He gets so much pull in the sneaker world that he gets that shit sent to him for free. I hate that guy. Jealousy is a vicious thing.
